Choose the AI for your minutes

Under “Data processing” in Reki note, you choose the AI used for minutes, AI refinement, people info, task generation, and chat. You can pick Reki note cloud AI, your own API key, a local LLM on your device, or a CLI. This page covers how to think about the options and how to register an API key.

Under Settings > AI > Data processing, you choose the AI used for minutes, AI refinement, people info, task generation, and chat.

The choices are Reki AI (cloud), your own API key (BYOK), a local LLM, a local endpoint, or a CLI. What is available depends on the processing mode.

This uses Reki note cloud AI. Sign in and you can use it for free each month.

It is available in Standard mode. It stops in Local mode.

This registers the API key of an AI service you already subscribe to. The supported services are:

  • Gemini, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Groq, NVIDIA

API keys you register are stored in the OS keychain and are not written into app files.

  1. Open Settings > AI > Data processing.
  2. In the “Your own API key” row, choose the service to use.
  3. Enter the API key and press “Save and use”.
  4. When it shows “Configured” you are done. Deleting it returns you to Reki AI.

To process conversation data only on your device, choose a local LLM or a local endpoint.

See the “Generate meeting notes with a local LLM” article for the detailed setup.

This makes an installed Claude CLI or Codex CLI the processing target. It runs under your own subscription.

See the “Connect with the Codex CLI or Claude CLI” article for the detailed setup.

Trying Reki AI first is simplest. If you already subscribe to a service, use BYOK; if privacy matters, choose a local LLM or CLI.

In every case, cloud AI is not used while the processing mode is Local.
